The American Musicological Society (AMS) recently announced the recipients of its 2024 academic year graduate research and dissertation fellowships. Brown University PhD candidate in Musicology & Ethnomusicology Alexander Hardan earned The Howard Mayer Brown Fellowship for his proposed dissertation "The Sound of the ‘New Man’: Performing the USSR in Cold War Cuba." According to the AMS announcement on these awards, "these fellowships support dissertation and predissertation research in musicology and related fields, and are a crucial part of the Society's ongoing investment in the future of musicology."
