We are thrilled to announce the hire of Timo Vollbrecht, an internationally performing saxophonist-bandleader, composer, reeds player, educator, and scholar, as our new Director of Jazz Studies and Lecturer in Music. As a performing musician, Vollbrecht combines jazz with elements of new music, post-rock, electronics, and instrumental songwriting. He has toured over 30 countries with his band FLY MAGIC, and to-date has played on 22 albums as a leader or sideman. As a scholar, Vollbrecht's research interests range at the intersections of music production, pedagogy, band interaction, improvisation, artistic citizenship, and the digital avant-garde.
